Does Wagestream and moving to monthly pay impact Income Tax and National Insurance?

No. Wagestream and the transition to monthly pay do not affect the calculation of your Income Tax or National Insurance contributions.

The review of our payroll processes, conducted as part of the People Data Systems Project, has identified that some staff have been underpaying National Insurance contributions. This was due to a misunderstanding around how contributions are calculated for individuals holding multiple roles at the RHN.

Nobody will be required to repay any discrepancies related to previous contributions.

All jobs within the RHN are considered connected for National Insurance purposes. This means contributions must be based on total earnings from all RHN roles—both Permanent and Bank—rather than treating each job separately.

From 1st April 2025, your payslip will reflect the statutory 8% National Insurance contribution on earnings above £242 per week, applied across all your RHN earnings.
